Subscribing to a Shift Location (Employee):

The employee can subscribe/unsubscribe to particular locations by selecting the option under a shift location menu.

To subscribe/unsubscribe to all locations on a shift in bulk, the employee can select this option, underneath the shift title:

The employee will see an additional menu like this:

An employee will not be able to subscribe to a shift location until they have added at least one contact phone number.

Managing Contacts:

Employees can manage their phone contacts for sms notifications from LCSO by:

  • Add: Typing the new contact phone number and clicking the green + button
The first time a phone number is registered with LCSO Notifications, they should receive a text message confirming that they have been registered with our text messaging service (with the option to unsubscribe by replying STOP). A phone number does not have to be re-added for each and every shift location the employee wants to subscribe to; these phone numbers become associated with their LCSO ID# and are remembered for any further location subscriptions they request.
  • Remove: Clicking the red - button next to a contact number
The employee can always remove the phone number to stop receiving text messaging from LCSO Notifications with this button or by replying the keyword STOP to any message from LCSO Notifications. This removal would apply to ALL notifications that would be sent to this phone number in the future, not one shift location specifically. In order to stop receiving shift coverage requests from one particular shift location, the employee should Unsubscribe from that location specifically, not remove their phone number entirely, if they still wish to receive other text messages from LCSO Notifications at that phone number (such as for other shift locations).

Requesting Coverage (Supervisor):

When a supervisor requests coverage on a shift location, these numbers will get a text including a response code, to allow subscribers to the shift location to respond and pick up that shift.

Select the Request Coverage option under a shift location menu.

When an employee responds to the text message they receive with the designated response code, the internal handler will assign the first person(s) to respond until the location slots are filled

In other words, even if 20+ people are sent invitations to claim 1 opening on a shift location, and 10 respond to request to pick it up, the first responder will be assigned the position of the roster and the other 9 will get a message thanking the employee for expressing interest in covering the shift, but that the need has already been fulfilled.
