Purpose: Activating new VERIZON MiFi’s.
Step 1: Grab a VERIZON MiFi
Step 2: Login to Verizon Business Account Login
Step 3: Locate the MiFi using the IMEI. It should show up as Suspended
Step 4: Click I want to… > Resume Service > Submit
Step 5: Click Continue working with this number > I want to… > Change User Information. Do the following:
- Change the First & Last Name to the employee you’re giving the MiFi to
- Change the Contact Email Address to [email protected]
- Change the Cost Center to the employee’s department (ie. Road Patrol)
Step 6: Power on the MiFi > plug it into your computer > on the MiFi, click Access internet (USB & Wi-Fi) > Open a web browser and go to 192.168.1.1
Step 7: Click the arrow under Wi-Fi
Step 8: Enter the admin password (In the Mifi, go Settings > Advanced Settings to find the temporary admin password) Once entered, it will prompt you to change it.
Step 9: Once the admin password is changed, go to Primary Network, change the following, and click Confirm:
- Primary Network Name (SSID): Enter the MiFi’s phone number, use periods instead of dashes (ie. 352.123.4567)
- Password: Update to the designated user password.
Step 10: Disconnect the old MiFi. Here’s an article with instructions > How To: Disconnect a Verizon MiFi
Outcome: The user’s new MiFi should be ready to go.
